Post Race

Yesterdays race was good and bad. Time wise it was a step in the right direction, I didn't race as well as I could have, but it's lesson learned. I ran 1:48.90. I am spending the day in LA and flying home on the red eye. I am very, very excited to get home and see Leanna and Mr. Boots.
It will be back to training and off to Indianapolis in a few weeks to race!

The latest

It’s been very uneventful here for the last few days. There has been a lot of running and recovering, eating, running, recovering some more. The most exciting thing has been changing houses. Two more sleeps here than back to Phoenix for a night. Quick flight to LA on Thursday, race Saturday, fly out Sunday night, Halifax on Monday! It’s been a long 7 weeks. It’s been fun but I can’t wait to be home to and see Leanna and Mr. Boots.  Mr. Boots has been acting up quite a bit as of lately and that obviously means he is acting out because I am not there.
I hear there is some serious rain in Halifax, I would like to state now that I am going to be bring the sun home with me. That is a fact, I promise.
On another note, if you’re in the market for some running gear, be it shoes or clothes there is a deal going on at Aerobics First; if you go in and mention my blog you will get 20% off. So get in and check it out! The guys at Aerobics First are the most knowledgeable people in Halifax about shoes, if you want to get fitted for the right running shoe go to Aerobics First. It’s a local company, who’ve have helped me out and do a lot for the community. There on Quinpool, so check them out!
More to come post race Saturday!

Update from Flagstaff

There's nothing really new to talk about. We have been in Flagstaff and training for a week now. Not a lot happening. I have had some great workouts and been very happy with how training is going and the scrapes on my knees are starting to heal and not tear open every morning when I get out of bed.

I have a big workout tomorrow, I am doing an all out 600m. There's a group of strong runners down here, we have 4 of the top 5 Canadian 800m runners as well as pretty fast Brit. Tomorrow's run should be fast and hopefully fun. We are getting some weather here right now, last I heard it was hailing so I have been hiding indoors. I am hoping tomorrow is nice for the workout.

I will be running at Occidental on the 21st in an 800m. It should be a fast race, there are a lot of big names entered so I hope to get into a fast heat and show what all this hard work has done for me. Between now and than it's training as usual and lots of recovery.

Penn Relays Video

We weren't in the top three and therefore you can't see very much of me or any of the Canadians other than Jaden first leg... But it's a great race to watch!

Flagstaff, Mini Putt and workouts

Were are staying at a little "resort" that has a club house with mini putt, pools, ping pong and what not. It's a great way to stay in training camp mentality and not over do anything, stay stimulated and not get bored sick. The altitude here is 7000+ feet, so it's easy to feel like you have lost your breath just walking up a hill and we live on a hill. We had our first track workout today and it went alright, I was fast but not as fast I would like to have been. It's hard feeling like that, I ran a personal best twice in the 300's we did today but I guess we always want to be faster. The important thing is I made a huge come back in some mini putt yesterday to win against and Olympian. I have also learned playing the 6'3'' black guy in basketball will never go well for me, though I took one game of 21 off him. So it's essentially recovery based things until Saturday's workout down 1000 feet in Sedona.

April's Overview

It's been about a month now since I restarted posting these things and If I have learned one thing it's that sketchers shape ups can't be worth it. They look so dumb, and I can't imagine that they really help that much in fitness, maybe they help stability... still not worth it.

Now that's off my mind and I can feel satisfied I said it. It's out there now and if you own a pair and are offended well, sorry, I guess. I have found that side of this very difficult. Deciding what to say on here and how far I can go when saying things that could be offensive. I don't think I like very much being censoring myself but I guess you have to pick your audience.

This last month has been great, Training in Phoenix has been fun but more importantly it has been quality training. That's what I came here for, I am going to continue it up in Flagstaff. 3 more weeks of it and than I am heading home to Halifax to see my patient and supportive girlfriend. It's rough hard work traveling and maintaining a relationship. It's always worth it coming home!

Flagstaff for anyone who hasn't been is full of people with long hair and everyone has a dog... I love it up there. There favorite sport there is Frisbee golf, you get got the picture? Hippies everywhere. I have looking forward to this part of the trip since I left there last year.
Thanks to everyone for the messages this last month.
